The Shobii Story
The idea for the Shobii™ smart frame and its companion private photo sharing network took shape when my wife and I started family in 2007. I searched everywhere for an easy-to-use frame and a completely private photo sharing network, so that I could share the photos of my children with close family members.
The complete unavailability of such a system prompted me to start building my own solution in 2008. After four years of hard work and many revisions later, the Shobii™ smart frame, along with the Shobii™ private network, is now ready for production. We are using the Kickstarter website to raise sufficient funds to manufacture these frames in large numbers, and to finish software development for the private network. Our Vision
We want to make it easy for our parents, grandparents, siblings, and other family members all over the world to enjoy family moments privately, without requiring complex social media interactions, and without creating yet another public online profile.
Our Pledge
We make a pledge to you that we will take all steps within our abilities to ensure the safety and privacy of your photos. They will only be visible to yourself and to the people with whom you choose to share. We will never claim ownership of your photos, nor will we ever share them with a third party.
How Does Shobii Work?
When you share photos privately with your family and friends, they will hear a gentle ring tone and the photos just show up -- nothing is required of them! Keep a Shobii frame in your office and fill it with the precious moments in your family's life as they happen. Pair that frame with your loved ones, and let them share their moments with you.
Search by tags and filter photos by albums, people, or relationships. You can favorite photos, comment on them, and see other people's comments.
But That Isn't All
The Shobii smart frame can also connect with your Facebook account. You can select the friends and albums you care about, and instantly enjoy their photos.
It also integrates with Flickr and gives you the ability to search using keywords to fill the frame with the photos that fit your mood.
Our Next Steps
We intend to build a long lasting technology start up that not only brings privacy to mainstream Internet but puts it on front and center. We want to cater to everyday users of the Internet who don't fancy themselves in being gadget geeks. We want to provide easy-to-use photo frame solutions that everyone can enjoy every day.
